THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ASSERTIVE POWER (R Khathi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to a technical issue with the scale, resulting in all the jockeys having to re-weigh out. b) POWER OF SILVER (C Orffer) dislodged his jockey on the way to the start, cantered back to the parade ring, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. c) Jockey M Byleveld, the rider of DOLLAR BRAND, dropped his crop at the 200m. d) RED LARK (A Domeyer) and DOLLAR BRAND (M Byleveld) brushed shortly before the finish. e) In view of the performance of ASSERTIVE POWER (R Khathi) which trailed the field throughout, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) In view of the performance of POWER OF SILVER (C Orffer) which over raced in the early stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the performance of CHURCHHAVEN (G van Niekerk), which tired quickly in the latter stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. h) RED LARK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
