TALBEC (AUS), SAVETHELASTDANCE and GYPSY'S INN were slow into stride. KING OF BLUES over-raced in the early stages. Apprentice Hewitson, the rider of ORIENTAL BLUE, and Jockey Greyling, the rider of GYPSY'S INN, reported that their mounts did not stride out freely in running. GENTLEMAN ONLY was baulked for a clear run from the 400m to the 250m. TAEGAN'S JET was baulked for a clear run from the 400m to the 250m and thereafter switched out to continue its run. EQUATOR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of EQUATOR, Trainer Kenny explained to the Board that in this geldings previous run, he raced too handy and compounded, today EQUATOR had been equipped to race with a tongue tie and that Jockey Wrogemann had given this gelding a more patient ride, which in his opinion had accounted for the improvement. Trainer Kenny was advised to race this gelding similarly equipped and in a similar manner in future. He was further advised that the future performances of EQUATOR will be monitored. GYPSY'S INN was ridden by Jockey Greyling who weighed out at 53,4kg, 1kg over the carded weight. Permission was granted for GYPSY'S INN to carry the overweight as Jockey Greyling was the only rider available. KING OF BLUES raced with a tongue tie on. Vet: KING OF BLUES - wound right front pastern. ORIENTAL BLUE - examined post race, no significant findings. GENTLEMAN ONLY - cut into right hind. GYPSY'S INN - not striding out both front.
