HYAKU lost 1 length. CAT IN COMMAND was stubborn to load and lost 1 length. MUMSY'S JET repeatedly kicked the back gates, was removed, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. NICKLAUS (BRZ), the winner, placed second on an objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. LAST TIGER, placed second but declared the winner on an objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Howells was questioned regarding the improved performance of NICKLAUS (BRZ), placed second on an Objection, compared to this gelding's previous run on the 11.12.2016. Mr Howells stated that NICKLAUS (BRZ) was unsuited to the prevailing soft underfoot track conditions that prevailed on that occasion. His explanation was noted. Assistant Trainer Badenhorst, acting on behalf of Trainer Kannemeyer was questioned regarding the improved performance of LAST TIGER, placed second, declared the winner on an Objection, compared to this gelding's previous run on the 11.12.2016. Miss Badenhorst stated that NICKLAUS (BRZ) was unsuited to the prevailing soft underfoot track conditions that prevailed on that occasion. Her explanation was noted. In view of the Starter's report concerning MUMSY'S JET, the starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn until recertified tractable with a companion. STOLEN DESTINY over-raced in the early and middle stages. Jockey Jacobson reported JUST ASK ME was not striding out freely in running. Jockey Godden, the rider of ROYAL ARMOUR, did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. NICKLAUS (BRZ) was hanging out over the final 300 metres, shifted out making contact and unbalancing LAST TIGER at approximately the 50-metre mark. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward, which was followed by an Objection lodged by Jockey Delpech, rider of the second placed horse, LAST TIGER, against the winner, NICKLAUS (BRZ), on the grounds of interference in the closing stages. The Board after viewing the patrol videos from the various angles, hearing all the evidence and after considering the distance of 0.05 lengths between these horses was of the opinion that, but for the interference, LAST TIGER would have beaten NICKLAUS (BRZ) and therefore upheld the Objection and refunded the deposit. CUTTING EDGE returned post race having cast the left fore shoe. Vet: ROYAL ARMOUR - not striding out right fore. JUST ASK ME - not striding out left fore. Scratched: MUMSY'S JET - examined at the start after kicking the back gates and found not striding out right hind and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
