Workrider Ndlovu did not ride at today's racemeeting (injured riding work). He was replaced on his mount in Race 1. Jockey Mansour did not ride at today's racemeeting (medically indisposed - awaiting documentation). He was replaced on his mount in Race 7. Jockey Marwing did not ride at today's racemeeting (sprained back - stood down by the Course Medical Officer on Saturday 12 January 2017). He was replaced on his mount in Race 7. Jockey Pretorius did not ride at today's racemeeting (neck spasms). He was replaced on his mount in Race 8. GREEK HONEY proved reluctant cantering to the start and had to be led by a Handler, which caused a delay to the start of this Race. Trainer Nieuwenhuizen was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. VIVACIOUS VIVIAN was restless in the stalls. The Starting Stall Certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. STARINA lost two lengths. ERHARDT and SHEPHERD'S DELIGHT lost one length. Shortly after the start in a tightly bunched field, TIMBER HITCH and FLAMINGO VLEI came together and bumped when awkwardly placed on the inside of BANDOLA and SHEPHERD'S DELIGHT, which commenced to over-race. Workrider Mundlovu, the rider of GREEK HONEY, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and was advised against the practice of using his crop in the drawn position forward of the saddle. In view of the Starter's report, VIVACIOUS VIVIAN was suspended for seven days. BANDOLA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. TIMBER HITCH and SHEPHERD'S DELIGHT raced with a tongue tie on. Vet: STARINA - scalped right hind. VIVACIOUS VIVIAN - speedy cut right front. Scratched: ISLAND BLISS - insufficient recovery time.
