RIVERS EDGE proved stubborn to load, which caused a delay to the start of this race. Trainer Ferreira was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. MAXIMIZER and LUNDY'S STAR lost one length. RYDER was stubborn loading. Jockey Pheiffer reported that KUNUNATA did not stride out freely in running. In view of the performance of JUST A GIGOLO, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with HOWLING TOM in running. MUTAKAYYEF (NZ) over-raced in the early stages. MAXIMIZER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: JUST A GIGOLO - examined post race, no significant findings. KUNUNATA - lame right front. HOWLING TOM - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. MAXIMIZER - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: DIVAR - bruised heel. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. Several Jockeys and Apprentices were selected for breathalyser tests and the taking of urine samples for analysis.
