LOVE TO BOOGIE, which was slow losing one length, was fractious and reared in the stalls, dislodged the rider, was taken out and had to be resaddled, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, and then reloaded causing a delay. In view of the report from the Starter concerning LOVE TO BOOGIE, Trainer Nel will be advised that this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. Jockey Byleveld reported that he felt something amiss with SECRETARIAT'S GIRL. STOPTHINKINGOFME was momentarily held up for a clear run at the 250m. VARIFAST was forced to ease for a number of strides when tightened for galloping room approaching the 150m. KWANDO shifted out sharply from the 100m and bumped TRIP TO INDIA outwards onto the heels of LOVE TO BOOGIE shortly before the finish. This resulted in TRIP TO INDIA clipping the heels of LOVE TO BOOGIE and stumbled. A Member of the Board called for a race review, which was followed by Assistant Trainer Miss Newlands, acting on behalf of Trainer Kotzen, calling for a race review. After reviewing the patrol films and having regard to the distance between these horses and that this incident took place shortly before the finish, both parties took no further action. An Inquiry will be opened regarding this incident. LOVE TO BOOGIE and KWANDO were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. LOVE TO BOOGIE raced fitted with a tongue tie. Vet: LOVE TO BOOGIE - returned cut into on the left hind. SECRETARIAT'S GIRL - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
