PENNINGTON SANDS was slow losing two lengths. At approximately the 150m ZANTE was tightened for galloping room and had to ease when awkwardly placed between BANKING APRIL and TIGER FLAME (AUS), which was carried in and had to ease off the heels of NOTHER RUSSIA, which shifted in away from the crop. Jockey Zackey was charged with a contravention in that he, as the rider of NOTHER RUSSIA, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to TIGER FLAME (AUS) when he shifted in at the 150m. Jockey Zackey signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. BANKING APRIL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: PENNINGTON SANDS - wound on right hip from pens. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. AFTER THE RUNNING OF RACE 8, AN ELECTRICAL STORM MOVED IN OVER TURFFONTEIN. THE RUNNING OF RACE 9 WAS DELAYED WHILST WAITING FOR THE LIGHTNING TO DISSIPATE. HOWEVER THE LIGHTNING PERSISTED AND AFTER CONSULTATION WITH THE OPERATOR, IT WAS DECIDED TO ABANDON RACE 9.
