AMANGA was restless in the stalls. MOONLITE MIST was stubborn loading and stumbled shortly after the start. Trainer Borman was advised to re-school this mare prior to her next engagement. Jockey Munger reported that BUENOS AIRES raced with its tongue over the bit. At approximately the 100m, Apprentice Hewitson, the rider of FIRST SIGN, dropped his right side rein, which he only regained after the winning line. FIRST SIGN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of this gelding, Stable Employee Mr Oosthuizen could offer the Board no suitable explanation.
