Shortly before the loading process began a Handler was kicked by one of the horses and required medical attention. Thereafter JUJUBE proved stubborn loading. This was followed by IRRESISTIBLE JODY being restless in the stalls, breaking open the back gate, the back gate being damaged and all the horses drawn on the inside of this filly being extricated from the stalls and reloaded in draw sequence in order for the damaged starting stall not to be used. These incidents caused a delay to the start of this race. The starting stalls certificate for JUJUBE has been withdrawn. Trainer Nieuwenhuizen was advised to re-school IRRESISTIBLE JODY before its next engagement. ORDAINED was slow, losing 1 length. ERHARDT was slow, losing 2 lengths. DOUBLY ATTRACTIVE was slow, losing 3 lengths. In view of the Starter's report with regard to JUJUBE, this filly was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable loading into the starting stalls. JUJUBE may not be presented for repassing during this period. DOUBLY ATTRACTIVE cast its left hind shoe in running. Jockey Marwing reported that LOVE TRYST did not stride out freely in running. Jockey Maujean reported that IRRESISTIBLE JODY did not stride out freely in running and did not persevere with his ride from the 300m. In view of the performance from ORDAINED, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer Houdalakis was requested to report back on the condition of ORDAINED on return to the stables. WOULD I LIE TO YOU and FORTYSECOND STREET were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Simons replaced Jockey van der Merwe on JUJUBE. Jockey van der Merwe mistakenly travelled to the Vaal racecourse. He telephoned the Stipendiary Board and the NRB to explain his mistake. Jockey van der Merwe signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that he failed to fulfil his riding engagement. A Warning was imposed. Vet: LOVE TRYST - lame right front. ORDAINED - examined post race, no significant findings. IRRESISTIBLE JODY - examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
