The start of the 2nd Race was delayed as a result of WESKUS KLONG losing the left front shoe en-route to the start which had to be refitted at the start. ZLOTY POTOK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was questioned regarding the improved performance of ZLOTY POTOK was compared to this gelding's previous run on the 1st January 2017. Mr van Zyl stated that ZLOTY POTOK had suffered interference on the bend in this race, as was reported, and was not fully persevered with thereafter. His explanation was noted. Due to the performances of WESKUS KLONG, INALA, SILVER CENT and TEXAS COWBOY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. TEXAS COWBOY raced with his tongue tied down. Vet: WESKUS KLONG, INALA and SILVER CENT - nothing obvious detected. TEXAS COWBOY - not striding out left hind.
