The start of the 8th Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous races. SNOWMAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Roberts was questioned regarding the improved performance of the SNOWMAN compared to this gelding's previous run on the 1.1.2017. Mr Roberts explained to the Board that in this gelding's previous start he was drawn wide and as a result was forced to drop out which had not suited his runner. For today's run he was able to race from his usual handier position which had accounted for the improved performance. His explanation has been noted. In view of the performances of VARIETY ROMP and COMMANDTOCONQUER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. Approaching the 350 metre mark TRENDY GUY switched in sharply, which resulted in ROY'S ROLLS ROYCE (AUS), who was shifting outwards, having to be eased momentarily. Apprentice Schwarz, the rider of TRENDY GUY, appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take more care when shifting ground in races in future, ROY'S GUL GUL HA took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. COMMANDTOCONQUER raced fitted with pacifiers. Vet: VARIETY ROMP and ROY'S GUL GUL HA - nothing obvious detected. COMMANDTOCONQUER - coughing. Scratched: DUBLIN REBEL - elevated temperature. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
