RUSSIAN ARCHER and DISCOVEROR were slow into stride. HEADLINE over-raced in the early stages. Thereafter Jockey van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. Leaving the 350m MIESQUE'S RUMBA, which was hanging in, became unbalanced when bumped by RED REBEL, which was carried out by KAHAL'S LEGACY, which shifted out. The Stipendiary Board was satisfied that this was a racing incident and no blame could be apportioned to any individual rider and therefore took no further action. FANTASY VIEW shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. FANTASY VIEW and RED REBEL were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. KAHAL'S LEGACY raced unshod behind.
