The start of the 4th Race was delayed as a result of HOUR GLASS being very restless in the stalls and reared, which resulted in Jockey de Melo being flung from the stalls. HOUR BLASS was removed, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon whilst Jockey de Melo was cleared by the Medical Staff at the start. HOUR GLASS was re-loaded. LAST SUMMER, REGAL EMPRESS and CROQUET DAY were slow into stride. ATTIC VIEW was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CROQUET DAY pulled hard for a short distance near the 1200 metre mark and shifted out off the heels of LAST SUMMER. FASHION QUEST shifted out sharply away from the crop approaching the 400 metre mark carrying ATTIC VIEW outwards. HOUR GLASS compounded and was not persevered with in the latter stages. Jockey Godden, the rider of REGAL EMPRESS, and Jockey Wright, the rider of ALESNADO, reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. Jockey van Rensburg reported BOTTLENOSE took no interest in running. In view of the Starter's report concerning HOUR GLASS, the starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn until recertified tractable with a companion on a race day. The Medical officer reported that Jockey van Rensburg was suffering from gastro/dehydration and stood down. Vet: HOUR GLASS, BOTTLENOSE and REGAL EMPRESS - nothing obvious detected. ALESNADO - not striding out left fore. Scratched: ROY'S KAITRINA and MARGOT - elevated temperature.
