NEVADA stumbled leaving the stalls. TURBO steadied off the heels of CHENNAI SPICE passing the 800-metre mark. CHENNAI SPICE was hanging inwards and Jockey Naidoo reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in the running. CAPTAIN ON THE RUN was changing stride in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey Gould reported that he felt something amiss with IN FULL REGALIA in the running. Jockey Murray reported that he felt something amiss with FIRE HORSE in the running and he eased this gelding out of the race at the 200-metre mark. Trainer Spies was requested to monitor FIRE HORSE over the next 48 hours and report back on its condition. NEVADA shifted inwards from the 200 metre mark, thereafter ORIENTAL TIGER shifted outwards from the 100 metre mark. Approaching the finish line NEVADA and ORIENTAL TIGER made contact. A race review was called by the rider of the 2nd placed horse, NEVADA, which was followed by an Objection being lodged by the same rider against ORIENTAL TIGER on the grounds of interference in the closing stages. After reviewing the patrol films of this incident and hearing evidence from the concerned parties the Board overruled the Objection and the Judges' placings stood. The Objection fee was refunded. ORIENTAL TIGER and NEVADA were selected for taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: IN FULL REGALIA, CAPTAIN ON THE RUN and FIRE HORSE - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. NEVADA - abnormal respiratory noise, speedy cut left hind. ORIENTAL TIGER - blood in mouth. CHENNAI SPICE - not striding out left front.
