En route to the start Jockey Thackeray was dislodged from SHANE and after being examined by the course medical staff was declared unfit to ride. SHANE was brought in hand, inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to race. A replacement rider was weighed out for this colt. Subsequently WHIPPING BOY, on the way to the start, dislodged Jockey Brown, bolted and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. These incidents caused a delay to the start of this Race. AL RAGNAR and GIANT'S GARDEN were slow, losing 1 length. SHANE jumped outwards. MAJESTIC THUNDER over-raced in the early stages. In view of the performance from this gelding, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine MAJESTIC THUNDER. In view of the performance from AL RAGNAR, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Assistant Trainer de Kock was requested to report back on the condition of MAJESTIC THUNDER and AL RAGNAR on return to stables. Between the 500m and 350m GIANT'S GARDEN shifted both ways away from the crop and thereafter was allowed to race towards the outside of the course. ATOMIC BLONDE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. SILVER STONE raced equipped with a tongue tie. SHANE raced in Club colours with the Stewards permission. Vet: AL RAGNAR and MAJESTIC THUNDER - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: WHIPPING BOY - bolted.
