Jockey Minnie reported that STRUBEN was changing stride in the running. Jockey Webber, the rider of PEREGRINE KING, dropped his right side rein passing the 250 metre mark and regained it shortly thereafter. Jockey Naidoo, the rider of NEVADA, dropped his crop passing the 200 metre mark. Approaching the 100 metre mark PONT DU GARD shifted inwards and REBEL HOUSE eased for several strides off this gelding's heels. The Trainer of the second placed horse, REBEL HOUSE, called for a race review and then lodged an Objection against the winner, PONT DU GARD, on the grounds of crossing in the closing stages. After viewing the patrol films of this incident and hearing evidence from the parties concerned the Board over-ruled the Objection and the Judges' placings stand. The Objection fee was refunded. An Inquiry will be opened into the riding of PONT DU GARD by Jockey Cheyne. PONT DU GARD was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: PEREGRINE KING - coughing. STRUBEN - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: FIRE HORSE - coughing. BREATHLESS BERTIE - insufficient recovery time.
