Rain fell prior to and during the running of the 8th Race. Due to the close proximity of lightning to the racecourse the horses left the parade ring later than scheduled. MISS FERRIS lost 1 length. BAOBAB was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey de Melo reported MODESTY did not act in the prevailing underfoot track conditions. Jockey Sturgeon reported that he felt something amiss with ANAAR KALEE and as a result did not persevere with his ride in the final straight. In view of the performances of MODESTY, HURRY HOME and FORGE MISTRESS, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. Following a request from Mrs Dittmer, trainer of MISS FERRIS and Mr Howells, trainer of LIKELY STORY, permission was granted for the blinkers to be removed from these two fillies due to the kick back. Vet: MODESTY, HURRY HOME and ANAAR KALEE - nothing obvious detected. FORGE MISTRESS - not striding out right fore. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
