THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRESH FROM THE US (D De Gouveia) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) QUARARI'S VALENTYN (M Mjoka) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) BOSCASTLE (S Khumalo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the performance of FISTS OF FIRE (*L J Ferraris) (distance 7,50 lengths, betting 7/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) WILD HERITAGE (A Domeyer) over raced in the early stages. In view of the performance of WILD HERITAGE (A Doymeyer) (distance 8,00 lengths, betting 7/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) From approximately the 200m FRESH FROM THE US (D De Gouveia) was carried out significantly by BROOKLYN BRIDGE (C Zackey) which shifted out away from the crop. A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by a member of the Stipendiary Board on behalf of the second placed horse (FRESH FROM THE US) against the winner BROOKLYN BRIDGE on the grounds of interference and intimidation from the 200m. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board upheld the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered the significant distance of the carry by BROOKLYN BRIDGE, the fact that FRESH FROM THE US was finishing off the race strongly and that Jockey D De Gouveia was precluded from fully assisting his horse in the concluding stages. Consequently, the Board was satisfied that but for the above incident, FRESH FROM THE US would have finished ahead of BROOKLYN BRIDGE, therefore it upheld the objection and amended the Judge's result to read: 1st 4 FRESH FROM THE US 2nd 7 BROOKLYN BRIDGE 3rd 9 DUKE OF ABERCORN 4th 8 HOUSE MASTER 5th 5 WALTZING AL d) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey C Zackey's ride. e) The Board have adjourned to investigate comments made by Stable Employee A Fortune during a recent television interview. f) BROOKLYN BRIDGE (C Zackey), placed second on objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BROOKLYN BRIDGE was ridden by Jockey C Zackey (declared 9 September 2020 at 09H05). b) BOSCASTLE: Jockey S Khumalo weighed out at 54,5kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) WALTZING AL raced without blinkers (declared 9 September 2020 at 12H04). b) WILD HERITAGE raced equipped with blinkers (declared 9 September 2020 at 14H40). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FISTS OF FIRE not striding out left front. b) NUSSPLY coughing. c) CONFESSOR coughing. d) WILD HERITAGE not striding out left front. SCRATCHED: a) CAPTAIN CALICO no suitable rider available. On arrival at the start, Jockey M Thackeray felt something amiss with CAPTAIN CALICO and requested the Veterinary Surgeon to examine this gelding. It was passed fit to race, however Jockey M Thackeray was not comfortable to ride this gelding. A replacement rider was sought, however there was no one available and CAPTAIN CALICO was subsequently scratched.
