SCARLET VEIL and SEE ARE SEVEN lost one length. CASA DE VAR was squeezed out shortly after the start. In view of the performance of GOODYTWOSHOES, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey Marwing reported that he felt something amiss with DUKES DIME in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. At approximately the 100m BERDANINE, which was hanging in, had to steady momentarily off the heels of SWEET PLEASURES (AUS). LEVI LADY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GOODYTWOSHOES and DUKES DIME raced with a tongue tie on. DUKES DIME raced equipped with plastic shoes in front and unshod behind. The new ownership of BERDANINE to read: Mr L J & Mrs M J Erasmus; and the Colours are: Red, blue epaulettes and sleeves, red cap (sold with engagements). Vet: GOODYTWOSHOES and DUKES DIME - examined post race, no significant findings. RIPPET WHIPPET - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: PIPKIN - insufficient recovery time.
