Jockey Sturgeon did not ride at today's meeting (medically indisposed). Jockey Lerena was examined by the Medical Officer and was declared fit to ride. The start of this race meeting was delayed due to Trainers, Riders, and Racing Officials being delayed due to major traffic congestion on two major in-roads to the race course. ROY'S EMBLEM was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Wright was questioned with regard to the improved performance of ROY'S EMBLEM, compared to this filly's previous performances. Mrs Wright could offer no suitable explanation for the improvement shown and the Board adjourned to review this filly's previous performances. Apprentice Sakayi, the rider of PEACE AGAIN, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. KINGS LADY jumped outwards at the start hampering UPPER ECHELON, PAINT THE WAY and HOTTEST TREND. FASHION SECRET was hanging in, in the final straight and shifted in from the 150 metre mark, resulting in KINGS LADY being carried in and being inconvenienced and thereafter becoming cramped and having to be eased, losing position just inside the 100-metre mark. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward, which was followed by on objection being lodged by Jockey de Melo on behalf of KINGS LADY, placed fourth, against FASHION SECRET, placed third, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After viewing the patrol videos from the various angles and considering the evidence presented, the Board were of the opinion that but for the interference, KINGS LADY would have beaten FASHION SECRET and therefore upheld the objection and amended the Judge's result. An inquiry will be held into this incident. In view of the performances of PAINT THE WAY, HOTTEST TREND and TOPAZ RAIN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. Jockey Yeni reported FASHION SECRET was not striding out freely in running. PAINT THE WAY raced wide into the final straight. Vet: PAINT THE WAY - not striding out right fore. HOTTEST TREND, TOPAZ RAIN and FASHION SECRET - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: FASHION TALK - elevated temperature.
