NEWCREST and MAGIC ICE were nervous in the stalls. PLACIDO and CAPTAIN DISKO were slow away and lost 1 length each. AUTO PILOT was squeezed out at the start. Apprentice Tarentaal reported that IMPRESSIONIST was not striding out freely in the running. I WILL BE rolled inwards passing the 400 metre mark made contact with the hindquarters of JUST TOO EARLY causing both horses to become unbalanced for several strides. Passing the 300 metre mark PAY AS YOU GO switched outwards and made contact with MAGIC ICE, who was forced outwards in front of FOREST LAWN, who was forced to ease. This incident will be reviewed by the Stipendiary Board. Jockey Zechner reported that he felt something amiss with PAY AS YOU GO in the running. Jockey Webber reported that MAGIC ICE shifted outwards away from the crop in the latter part of the race. PLACIDO was hanging inwards in the home straight. JUST TOO EARLY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Uren was questioned regarding the improved performance of FONTENOY compared to his previous race on the 07/02/2017. He explained that in his opinion this gelding performed over the longer distance of 1600 metres. The Board noted his explanation. TAKU WIND raced without a tongue tie. IMPRESSIONIST raced with alumite bonded shoes in front and unshod behind. Vet: PAY AS YOU GO - cut into left hind. CASINO KING - speedy cut right hind. AUTO PILOT - not striding out both hind. IMPRESSIONIST - not striding out in front. Scratched: MINNAROOM - lame left front. The Course Farrier on duty reported that the shoes of all the runners engaged at today's race meeting were checked and conformed with the rules. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
