The start of this Race was delayed due to HIGH ALTAR proving to be intractable, running past the starting stalls and disconnected the cable connecting the starting stalls to the Starter's rostrum. This resulted in the starting stalls breaking open and all the runners that were loaded, except for NEWTONS LADY and RUSSET ROSES, galloping for approximately 100 metres before pulling up and returning to the start. This resulted in Apprentice Ngwane, the rider of UNDER THE ROSE, being dislodged and injured. There was a further delay to allow the Medical team to transport Apprentice Ngwane to the Medical Centre and thereafter having to return to the start. The start was manually effected. PRINCESS RATATTOEE lost one length. QUEEN DIVA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Approaching the 200 metre mark QUEEN DIVA shifted in slightly brushing TAKAMAKA. NEWTONS LADY was hanging out badly on the bend. SHE'S PERFECT and TAKAMAKA over-raced in the early stages. Apprentice Moodley reported PRINCESS RATATTOEE was not striding out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. In view of the Starter's report concerning HIGH ALTAR, this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn until re-passed tractable with a companion. The Medical Officer reported that Apprentice Ngwane was stood down after being dislodged at the start with an injured back. Referred to hospital for x-rays. Vet: PRINCESS RATATTOEE - not striding out left hind. Scratched: CYBELE FOREST and MPHUMI - insufficient recovery time. HIGH ALTAR - refused to load and was withdrawn by the Starter.
