THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SWEETSCENTEDGREEN (*G Pieterse) was restless in the stalls.
b) KINSKEY'S TUNE (*T Gumede) jumped awkwardly.
c) BIG HELLO'S (*J Gates) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after the start, BORN A LADY (S Khumalo), LOTUS BLOSSOM (M Yeni) and HAWKER TYPHOON (L Hewitson) had to ease when awkwardly placed between IRISH BELLE (M Khan) which jumped out and I CAN JUMP (A Mgudlwa) which was bumped in by SWEETSCENTEDGREEN (*G Pieterse).
b) Apprentice T Gumede (KINSKEY'S TUNE) briefly lost his right side stirrup iron shortly after the start.
c) At the 400m, HAWKER TYPHOON (L Hewitson) shifted out to continue its run. Thereafter, this filly was hanging in from the 250m.
d) Apprentice G Pieterse (SWEETSCENTEDGREEN) dropped his crop at the 200m.
e) In the concluding stages, SWEETSCENTEDGREEN (*G Pieterse) was carried in by SOWETO HALL (*K Brewer) which was hanging in from the 200m.
f) Apprentice K Brewer (SOWETO HALL) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride.
g) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse JUSTADOREHER more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey Moodley struck the horse DON'T TOUCH ME, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Moodley used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed.
h) Jockey L Hewitson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse HAWKER TYPHOON more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey L Hewitson the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey Hewitson struck the horse HAWKER TYPHOON, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey L Hewitson used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed.
i) HAWKER TYPHOON (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G Puller advised (ML).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) ENGLISH PRINCESS raced with a tongue tie (advised 13.09.20/8h23).
b) SOWETO HALL raced equipped with blinkers (advised 10.09.20/17h33).
