The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. SUPERTUBE (AUS) lost two lengths. DEPUTY JUD over-raced in the early stages. Jockey Danielson was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline C on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse SAVE THE RHINO more than three times on consecutive strides in the concluding stages. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration that Jockey Danielson had struck this gelding five times on consecutive strides and imposed a penalty of a fine. In view of the performance of DETONATION, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer Woodruff was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. Jockey Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with GO DIRECT in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. ROYAL HONOUR and SAVE THE RHINO were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: GO DIRECT - not striding out left front. KINGMAMBO'S LEGACY and SAVE THE RHINO - abnormal respiratory noise. DETONATION - examined post race, no significant findings. Scratched: ODD ROB - lame right hind.
