THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) Fair start for all runners.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) ARIANOS SHADOW (*T Gumede) was hanging in from the 350m.
b) Jockey G Wright appeared before the Board with regard to his ride in the concluding stages on TWICE AS SMART. In this regard, his attention was drawn to, in particular, his decision to ease this mare shortly before the finish. Jockey Wright explained to the Board that, after he elected to switch in with this mare to obtain a clear run inside the 100m, TWICE AS SMART when positioned between MAIDENS PRAYER (S Veale) and SIMPLY SCRUMPTIOUS (D Schwarz), lost its action and felt amiss. In view of the above report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine TWICE AS SMART. Additionally, Jockey Wright was reminded of his obligations to report circumstances to the Stipendiary Board which affected the performance of his mounts.
c) Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his decision to change riding tactics and race to the front on SANSKRIFT. In this regard, he explained to the Board that, after breaking well, this filly had found herself in the first half of the field and wide. Jockey S Khumalo explained that at this juncture, he was unable to obtain a position near the rail and was too forwardly placed to take back and settle near the rear of the field. Consequently, he elected to race forward which resulted in SANSKRIFT over-racing in the early and middle stages and compounding in the straight. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey S Khumalo and has adjourned to review the footage of the race.
d) ARIANOS SHADOW (*T Gumede), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Y Govender advised (SC).

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a) SANSKRIFT : Cast right hind shoe.
b) TALIA AL GHUL : Spread right hind shoe.
c) TWICE AS SMART : Nothing obvious detected. Trainer W Whitehead was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should she find anything untoward on the condition of this mare on return to stables.
SCRATCHINGS :
a) ENRAPTURE : Not striding out right hind. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at 16h09 and the betting was 33/1. Rule 53.5 applies.
