The start of the 6th Race was delayed due to the 30-minute gap between races and the distance to the 1600 metre start. ROY'S DOLLAR and HANNAH'S ANSWER both lost 1 length. SUMMER IN THE CITY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Lunn was questioned regarding the improved performance of SUMMER IN THE CITY, compared to this filly's previous run on the 17th March 2017. Mr Lunn explained that with the drop in this filly's merit rating and the slight increase in distance had accounted for the improved performance. Mr Lunn's explanation was noted. Apprentice Ngwane, the rider of SUMMER IN THE CITY, has now ridden his 60th winner and in terms of the Rules will, in future, not claim an allowance from the conclusion of tonight's meeting. VALLANAUT was baulked for a clear run at approximately the 350 metre mark. In view of the performances of ST ELMO'S FIRE and ROY'S DOLLAR, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. Jockey Winnaar reported DARK ROSE was not striding out freely in running. ROY'S DOLLAR was pulling hard in the early stages, difficult to restrain. Vet: ST ELMO'S FIRE - coughing. ROY'S DOLLAR - nothing obvious detected. DARK ROSE - fatigued.
