NATIONAL LIBERTY, COSMIC RAY AND ABIA PROVED STUBBORN LOADING WHICH CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NATIONAL LIBERTY (+T Matsoele), COSMIC RAY (+J Gwingwizha) and ABIA (S Mosia) were stubborn loading. Trainers A B Fortune, S G Tarry and J J van Vuuren were advised to re-school their horses prior to their next engagements. b) FOR FRANCE (+S Siphika), LOCAL KNOWLEDGE (AUS) (+C Mabaya) and PROFESSOR PINE (+S Tshobosa) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Workrider J Gwingwizha reported that COSMIC RAY took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Workrider S Mosia signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse ABIA more than twelve times in the entire race. Workrider Mosia is suspended from riding in two Workrider races. Dates of Suspension: 22 September 2020 and 8 October 2020. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times (18) and Workrider Mosia's poor record with regards to this Rule and Guideline. c) Workrider C Mabaya signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse LOCAL KNOWLEDGE (AUS) more than twelve times in the entire race. Workrider Mabaya is suspended from riding in one Workrider race. Date of Suspension: 22 September 2020. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times (15) he used the crop in the entire race. d) DOMINO RULER (+G Dadamasi) hung in from the 400m proving difficult to assist. e) In the concluding stages, ABIA (+S Mosia) was bumped out by BENEV (+W Majenge) which shifted out away from the crop. Workrider W Majenge signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of BENEV, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ABIA (S Mosia) when he shifted out in the concluding stages. Workrider Majenge is suspended from riding in one Workrider race. Date of Suspension: 26 October 2020. f) Workrider Majenge signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.10 in that, whilst riding the horse BENEV, he saluted in a celebratory gesture for a substantial period prior to the finish line when exercising limited control of his horse in a tight finish. The Board imposed a suspension from riding in two Workrider races. Dates of Suspension: 8 October 2020 and 22 October 2020. g) BENEV (+W Majenge), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Peter advised (GF). Workrider W Majenge signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse BENEV more than twelve times in the entire race. The Board imposed a suspension from riding in one Workrider race. Date of Suspension: 22 September 2020. It was also noted that Workrider Majenge struck BENEV with an unorthodox crop action by using the crop on this colts left side with his right hand. He was warned that this type of crop action was unacceptable. Furthermore, the Board have recommended to Mr C J Maree who oversees the Workriders that Mr Majenge attend a refresher course at the Thoroughbred Development Trust as his standard of ride was unacceptable. WORKRIDER CHANGES: a) DOMINO RULER Workrider G Dadamasi weighed out at 58,8kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. b) PRIZED GIFT Workrider G Mutamba weighed out at 58,8kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FROZEN PALACE raced with a tongue tie on (declared 11 September 2020 at 08H24).
