The start of the 7th Race was delayed as a result of SPANISH CAPTAIN, the tote favourite, rushing the front gates after a horse kicked the back gates, being injured at the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. The field was unloaded to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets. HO'OPONOPONO lost 1 length. FOUNDING FATHER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MASTER OF MISCHIEF over-raced in the early stages. MASTER OF MISCHIEF was hanging out over the final 300 metres and shifted out from the crop, which resulted in MASTER OF MISCHIEF having to be steadied off the heels of FOUNDING FATHER inside the 100 metre mark. Due to the performances of FLYING ROCK and WANDIE'S, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Vet: FLYING ROCK - coughing. WANDIE'S - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SPANISH CAPTAIN - injured head in the stalls. Bleeding from mouth. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
