The start of this Race was delayed due to ICON ELECT (*G Pieterse) proving difficult to load and CAPTAIN SEAGER (S Veale) being examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) CAPTAIN SEAGER (S Veale) reared in the stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded. Trainer P Lafferty was advised to re-school this colt.
b) ICON ELECT (*G Pieterse) was stubborn and difficult to load.
c) STROMBOLI (B Jacobson) lost 3 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ICON ELECT (*G Pieterse), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 17.09.20 to the 23.09.20. ICON ELECT may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer A Rivalland was advised. (SH)
b) ANGELICUS (M Yeni) raced green.
c) Jockey K de Melo reported that STEEPLECHASE (16.25 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) MAESTRO SONADOR (S Moodley) was hanging out in the concluding stages.
e) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse PLEDGE OF HONOUR more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey A Arries struck the horse PLEDGE OF HONOUR, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey A Arries used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed.
f) Trainer A Rivalland signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1, in that he failed to ensure that the owners colours were available for the horse ICON ELECT. Accordingly a penalty of a warning was imposed.
g) GOODTIME GUY (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G H van Zyl advised (TN).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) A TIME TO REMEMBER raced with alumites (advised 15.09.20/12h33).
b) MONTFORT was ridden by Jockey G Wright (advised 16.09.20/7h42).
c) PLEDGE OF HONOUR was ridden by Jockey A Arries (advised 12.09.20/9h01).
