NORGAY lost one length. At approximately the 1500m TOM FOOL, which commenced to over-race, was awkwardly placed on the inside of SKYNIGHT. In the concluding stages, SHANKLY GATES shifted in marginally away from the crop and was awkwardly placed between BLUE DIAMOND ROAD, which shifted out marginally away from the crop, and PORCUPINE CREEK, which shifted in away from the crop and was immediately straightened. As a consequence of this, these three horses came together and bumped shortly before the finish line. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board, this was followed by an Objection being lodged by the Trainer of the second placed horse, SHANKLY GATES, against the first placed horse, PORCUPINE CREEK, on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Stipendiary Board after giving regard to the evidence put forward by the connections of both horses and viewing the patrol films of the incident complained of, was of the opinion that this incident had not affected the result of the race and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Trainer Moffatt's deposit was refunded. The Stipendiary Board, after reviewing this incident, was of the opinion that b lame could not be apportioned to any individual rider and therefore took no further action. PORCUPINE CREEK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Shortly after the finish line, PORCUPINE CREEK attempted to savage SHANKLY GATES. PORCUPINE CREEK raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind. Vet: BLUE DIAMOND ROAD - coughing. SKYNIGHT - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: KEEP ON FLYING - insufficient recovery time.
