The start of this Race was delayed due to SECOND REQUEST proving reluctant to canter to the start and having to be led by a handler, which was compounded by the tongue tie having to be refitted to WESTWING BELTER. SECOND REQUEST and WESTWING BELTER were slow into stride. SECOND REQUEST proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. This filly was suspended for a period of 30 days. Subsequent to the expiration of this period, SECOND REQUEST must be presented to parade and canter to the start on a race day on two consecutive occasions. Jockey Munger felt something amiss with WESTWING BELTER and eased this filly out of the race at approximately the 300m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine WESTWING BELTER. From the 300m GAIAN GLORY was carried in by ROCKIN RUSSIAN, which in turn was carried in by SCENT OF EVENING. Assistant Trainer Alexander, after reviewing the patrol film of this incident, lodged an objection against ROCKIN RUSSIAN, being declared the winner, on the grounds of intimidation from the 200m. The Board, after reviewing the patrol film and hearing the evidence, was of the opinion that the movement from ROCKIN RUSSIAN was not an independent movement and the incident was not of such a nature to affect the outcome of the race and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judge's result to stand. Assistant Trainer Alexander's deposit fee was refunded. ROCKIN RUSSIAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: WESTWING BELTER - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected.
