The start of the 8th Race was delayed due to the previous race delay as well as the farrier having to replace the right front shoe on THE ROYAL RUMBA at the start. THE ROYAL RUMBA, THE MONEY MAN and COMMANDTOCONQUER all lost 1 length. THE MONEY MAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. VIENTO became cramped and was eased off the heels of DALE HOUSE near the 1200 metre mark. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. THE MONEY MAN was hanging in, in the straight and shifted in over the final 150 metres. ROY'S STORMER was inconvenienced on the inside of THE MONEY MAN near the 150 metre mark. CAPTAIN COYOTE was carried in and thereafter eased off the heels of THE MONEY MAN shortly before the finish. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. Jockey Godden reported that he felt something amiss with THE ROYAL RUMBA in running. In view of the performance of DALE HOUSE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Vet: THE ROYAL RUMBA and DALE HOUSE - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SECOND LIEUTENANT - elevated temperature. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at tonight's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at tonight's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
