LADY AWAY kicked the back gates and was nervous in the stalls. KASHMIRA and OASIS QUEEN were slow into stride. OASIS QUEEN spread its left hind shoe in the saddling area which the Course Farrier was unable to refit and this filly raced unshod behind. Jockey Ndlovu reported that NTOMA made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. DIAMOND DYNASTY compounded over the final 300 metres. BONNE VIE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Spies was questioned regarding the improved performance of BONNE VIE compared to this filly's previous race at the Vaal Racecourse on the 2nd March 2017. He explained that in his opinion, today's race was against weaker company and this had been her first race in Port Elizabeth. The Board noted this explanation. IRISH GREY (AUS) raced with a tongue tie. Vet: NTOMA - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. OASIS QUEEN - cut into left hind. DIAMOND DYNASTY - lame left hind. KUNGFOOFIGHTING - spread right hind shoe. BONNE VIE - cut into both hind. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
