The start of this Race was delayed due to the farrier having to attend to the right fore shoe on GREAT RUMPUS at the start. MR O'NEILL was squeezed out shortly at the start losing one length. BANNER HILL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. A tiring SUN ON AFRICA was cramped and momentarily eased entering the final straight. BANNER HILL shifted in abruptly near the 400 metre mark, resulting in WARFARER being cramped and easing. Jockey Fourie, the rider of BANNER HILL, appeared before the Board with regard to the above incident and was advised to react sooner to correct his mounts when shifting ground in future. Jockey Yeni reported GREAT RUMPUS was not striding out freely in running. In view of the performances of CAPTAIN SPLENDID and SUN ON AFRICA, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. GREAT RUMPUS raced with Club Colours. Vet: CAPTAIN SPLENDID, SUN ON AFRICA and GREAT RUMPUS - nothing obvious detected.
