STANLEY'S LAST was nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 1 length. EQUESTRIS was slow into stride. RED BERRY CANDLE was pulling and shifted outwards sharply shortly after the start and re-joined the field several strides later. Jockey Zechner reported that he felt something amiss with LIFE'S A HIGHWAY passing the 400 meter mark and steadied his mount, which resulted in SAMISH BAY being steadied off the heels of LIFE'S A HIGHWAY. EQUESTRIS shifted outwards away from the crop over the final 200 metres. Jockey Ndlovu reported that he felt something amiss with STANLEY'S LAST in the running. OPIUM was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Greeff was questioned regarding the improved performance of OPIUM compared to this filly's previous performances on the 31/03/2017 and 24/02/2017. He explained that on the 24/02/2017 he had raced this filly equipped with a tongue tie for the first time, on the 31/03/2017 this filly was not striding out after the race. Today was this filly's first race on the poly track and equipped with blinkers which may account for her improved performance. Trainer Greeff was advised to race this filly similarly equipped in future. Vet: STANLEY'S LAST, RED BERRY CANDLE, BIG TIME GIRL and LIFE'S A HIGHWAY - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. OPIUM - cast left hind shoe, speedy cut left front. BUBBLY NIGHT - speedy cut.
