In view of the performance of CATALUGA, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. ROMAN EVENING was hanging in, in the concluding stages. Jockey Penny reported that he felt something amiss with MIA CULPA in running. Approaching the 300m, STRIKING POSE was awkwardly placed between DREAM LEADER and STARK, which rolled out marginally. ROMAN EVENING was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: CATALUGA and MIA CULPA - not striding out right front. Scratched: DRAGOON - insufficient recovery time. HUNTING OWL - abnormal temperature. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
