There was a delay to the start of the 1st Race as a result of safety concerns regarding the 14 horse field and the inside/false rail being positioned at 6 metres. Discussions between Gold Circle, riders, trainers and the Stipendiary Board took place and it was agreed that the field size had to be reduced. Horses FREDDIE FLINT and OLIGARCH were withdrawn. KAZAAR and PACK LEADER both lost 1 length. SAIL THE BAY, SUBTROPICAL and WORLD MISSION all lost 1 length. AMERICAN SNIPER lost 3 lengths. PACK LEADER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MIGHTY MERCURY jumped outwards as the start was effected carrying PRINCE OF PROMISE, BOBBY'S EXPRESS and ROY'S BANJO outwards. WORLD MISSION raced green and raced green on the bend. KAZAAR was hanging out throughout and as a result ride wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight. Due to the performances of BOBBY'S EXPRESS and WORLD MISSION, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Vet: BOBBY'S EXPRESS - nothing obvious detected. RED EIGHT - cut into left hind foot. WORLD MISSION - coughing. Scratched: FREDDIE FLINT and OLIGARCH - withdrawn to reduce field size.
