ASH LIFTED ITS RIGHT FRONT SHOE AT THE START WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS LED TO A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FOR SANDMAN (*K Matsunyane) was stubborn loading, thereafter restless in the stalls. b) ROCKPAPERSCISSORS (S Brown) was stubborn loading, thereafter jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls losing two lengths. c) GIMME JOY (*C F Dicken) was slow away losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey S Khumalo reported ASH took a number of awkward strides in running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) ROCKPAPERSCISSORS (S Brown) which raced green, shifted out away from crop in the concluding stages. c) GIMME JOY (*C F Dicken) failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field throughout. d) MASTER ULETIDE (C Habib) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) THE KOP (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
