THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLD GRIFFIN (W Kennedy) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1100m, Jockey C Maujean felt something amiss with THE BOSBOK and eased this gelding out of the race. As a consequence of this, BARAK (J Penny) had to take evasive action to avoid THE BOSBOK (C Maujean). b) In view of the performance of DAWN ASSAULT (S Khumalo), (distance 3,90 lengths, betting 22/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse. c) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with DROMEDARIS in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) BARAK (J Penny), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) TOP SHOT: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 53,6kg, 1,5kg over the carded weight of which 1kg was declared. b) EARTH SKY: Jockey M Majoka weighed out at 50,5kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) THE BOSBOK broke down right front. Humanely euthanased. Specimens collected for analysis. Trainer G M Alexander advised (RS). b) DAWN ASSAULT not striding out right hind. c) DROMEDARIS not striding out left hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
