AMORETTA lifted its near front shoe en-route to the start which was attended to by the Course Farrier. This caused a delay to the start of this Race. AMORETTA lost one length. Apprentice Hewitson reported that the saddle on SKYKAT slipped back shortly after the start, thereafter SKYKAT changed stride continually in running and did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. At approximately 500m, AMORETTA was awkwardly placed between MIRAFLORES and GREY MISSILE, which rolled in marginally. MIRAFLORES was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MIRAFLORES on the 17th of April 2017, Trainer Botes explained to the Board that this filly is extremely temperamental and was well above herself on that occasion, she had raced to the front and tired badly in the concluding stages. In today's race, they had elected to race her from off the pace and in his opinion, this had accounted for the improved performance. CLAREMORRIS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. LADY CARMEN raced without alumites. Vet: AMORETTA - abnormal respiratory noise. SKYKAT - lame left front. Scratched: LIFE MODE - injured head.
