During the loading process, CAPTAIN KANGAROO was restless in the stalls. He was removed, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded which caused a delay to the running of this race. TIGER'S LEGACY and SHANNON'S BOY lost one length. CAPTAIN KANGAROO was restless in the stalls. Trainer Magner was advised to re-school this colt prior to its next engagement. Jockey's Storey, the rider of TIGER'S LEGACY, and Jockey Penny, the rider of SHANNON'S BOY, reported that their mounts did not stride out freely in running. STARK was baulked for a clear run from the 400m to the 200m. MINNESOTA was hanging out in the concluding stages. Jockey van der Merwe was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline C on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse LE TIGRE more than three times on consecutive strides in the concluding stages. Jockey van der Merwe signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. LE TIGRE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: TIGER'S LEGACY - not striding out both front. SHANNON'S BOY - lame left front. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed
