HILARIA was slow losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. VARIFAST jumped awkwardly losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. FIFTY OTHER SHADES stood, then jumped losing eight lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. The Stewards reviewed the start regarding FIFTY OTHER SHADES in stall gate 4 and the filly was declared to be a runner. In view of the report from the Starter concerning FIFTY OTHER SHADES, Trainer Reeves will be advised that this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, until she is repassed on a race day with a companion. In view of the performance from VARIFAST, which tired quickly from the 200m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. SUN AT MIDNIGHT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: VARIFAST - returned suffering from an Epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage (2nd episode) and was suspended, for a period of 180 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa. Scratched: SAILS SET and SECRETARIAT'S GIRL - coughing. SCANDOLA - injured her head while being saddled. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys were selected for the taking of breathalyser tests and urine samples for analysis.
