The start was delayed by 2 minutes at the request of the Phumelela representative. TAR HEEL and CAPTAIN ALFREDO were led to the start. THAYER and NORMANZ were reluctant to load. TAR HEEL was reluctant to load, unruly behind the stalls and is to be re-schooled in the starting stalls prior to racing again. Assistant Trainer McLachlan and Trainer Laing were advised that should CAPTAIN ALFREDO and TAR HEEL respectively have to be led to the start in future they may be suspended. Jockey Murray reported that TAR HEEL was not striding out freely in the running and he did not persevere with his ride over the final 300 metres. Jockey Orffer reported that CUBAN EMERALD was not striding out freely in the running and he did not persevere with his ride over the final 400 metres. CAPTAIN ALFREDO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: TAR HEEL and CUBAN EMERALD - not striding out in front.
