There was a delay to the start of the 2nd Race whilst the tractors which had harrowed the track left the course proper. FONTEYN, LUNGI and FLICHITY BY FARR all lost 1 length. CELESTIAL GOLD was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. In view of the performance of AMBERCROMBIE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey Brown reported CHENNAI did not act in the rain affected underfoot track conditions. Jockey Ntuli, the rider of LAST SUMMER, accidentally dropped his crop at approximately the 100 metre mark. DOCTORS ANSWER was hanging in throughout. CHENNAI raced fitted with alumites both fore and unshod behind. Vet: AMBERCROMBIE - nothing obvious detected. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. AFTER THE RUNNING OF THE 2ND RACE AND FOLLOWING CONTINUED HEAVY DOWNPOURS, CONCERNS WERE RAISED BY THE RIDERS WITH REGARD TO THE SAFETY OF THE PULL-UP AREA AS WELL AS AN AREA AT THE 1200 METRE MARK. A PANEL WAS FORMED AND AN INSPECTION OF THE PULL-UP AREA WAS UNDERTAKEN. FOLLOWING THIS INSPECTION THE PANEL WAS OF THE UNANIMOUS OPINION THAT DUE TO THE CONTINUED RAIN THIS AREA HAD DETERIORATED AND THEREFORE ABANDONED THE REMAINDER OF THE RACE MEETING.
