SAMSARA was restless in the stalls. GINGER ROSE was slow losing four lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. A review of the start was called regarding GINGER ROSE in stall gate 12, and after reviewing the patrol films the Board was of the opinion that the filly had been impeded when the front gate did not open on terms and GINGER ROSE was declared to be a non runner. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of AHOY ME MATEY, was charged with a contravention in that he saluted in a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line. Jockey van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt. LADY HYSTERIA (IRE) was bumped outwards by SAMSARA leaving the 400m. AHOY ME MATEY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Scratched: KATE ROLE and JURUPARI - suspected virus. GINGER ROSE - impeded when the starting stalls did not open on terms and was declared to be a non runner. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
