As the handler entered the starting stall of LIFE IS GOOD, he bumped the gate open causing the horse to break through. The horse was then taken back to the back of the starting stall to be re-loaded. Apprentice Habib, the rider of MATHEMATICIAN, felt something amiss with this horse and he did not persevere in the final 200 metres of this race. Jockey Zechner reported ROAD TO DUBAI was not striding out in the latter stages of the race. Jockey Nyamagwete reported FAH FEE was not striding out in the latter part of this race. ROYAL HONOUR and WINDIGO were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MATHEMATICIAN - examined post race, and had a cut lip, possibly injured in the starting stalls. ROAD TO DUBAI - examined post race and nothing untoward was found. FAH FEE - sore on off fore, post race. Scratched: ASHTON PARK - elevated temperature. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
