BI POT and ONESIE were slow into stride. DRESS FOR SUCCESS lost 1 length. WIND CHILL lost 2 lengths. LADY OF THE HOUSE and GIMME SIX were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FINAL JUDGEMENT and ORCHID ISLAND both shifted in gradually approaching the 1700 metre mark. Thereafter GIMME SIX and SAFE HARBOUR were cramped and were eased resulting in GIMME SIX, losing position. Shortly thereafter ORIENTAL OAK was cramped and steadied. Jockey Fourie, the rider of FINAL JUDGEMENT, appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and advised to take more care when shifting ground in races in future. GIMME SIX shifted out approaching the 100 metre mark. Thereafter this filly was corrected and shifted in away from the crop. GIMME SIX and LADY OF THE HOUSE then both shifted in independently over the final 50 metres. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward regarding this incident which was followed by an Objection lodged by Jockey Delpech, rider of the second placed horse, GIMME SIX, against was LADY OF THE HOUSE on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the latter stages. The Board after reviewing the patrol videos and hearing all the evidence over-ruled the Objection, refunded the deposit and allowed the Judge's Result to stand. Jockey Strydom, the rider of LADY OF THE HOUSE, reported that his saddle slipped back in running. Jockey Khumalo, the rider of SMILING BLUE EYES, and Jockey Veale, the rider of THE HIGH LIFE, reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. In view of the performance of DRESS FOR SUCCESS, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. An Inquiry has been opened into Jockey Delpech's conduct. Vet: SMILING BLUE EYES, DRESS FOR SUCCESS and THE HIGH LIFE - nothing obvious detected.
