The saddle on SNOW BOARDING had to be refitted at the start and RIDING SHOTGUN was stubborn loading. These incidents caused a delay to the start of this Race. Trainer Alexander was advised to re-school RIDING SHOTGUN prior to its next engagement. RICHARD LIONHEART and FORT AUGUSTUS were restless in the stalls. Trainer Kenny and Trainer Azzie were advised to re-school their respective horses prior to their next engagement. THE FALLS ROAD and GAMBADO were slow, losing 1 length. Jockey Strydom reported that FORT AUGUSTUS was restless in the stalls and may have injured itself, and thereafter did not persevere with his ride from the 500m. ZERODARKTHIRTY was hanging out from the 600m and thereafter shifted both ways away from the crop in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine ZERODARKTHIRTY. When questioned regarding his ride on ZERODARKTHIRTY, Jockey Khumalo explained to the Board that this gelding had taken hold of the bit and had hung out badly. Thereafter he had shifted in away from the crop. Jockey Khumalo explained that in ZERODARKTHIRTY'S penultimate start he had hung in badly. It was his opinion that this gelding is still extremely immature and is looking for company in its races. The Board have adjourned to review ZERODARKTHIRTY'S run on 28 May 2017. SNOW BOARDING and ZERODARKTHIRTY were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FORT AUGUSTUS and HOKIPOKIDOKEYWOKEY raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: THE FALLS ROAD and CARIBBEAN EMPIRE - speedy cut right hind. FORT AUGUSTUS - abrasions right hind hock. ZERODARKTHIRTY - examined post race, no significant findings. Scratched: OVER EASY - hoof abscess left front.
