SILICONE VALLEY jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. ICON KING jumped awkwardly outwards losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. HEARTLAND jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. The start was reviewed regarding ULTIMATE DOLLAR in stall gate 1, after reviewing the relevant patrol films, and hearing evidence, the Board established that the hood, after being removed shortly before the start was effected became entangled between the martingale and the rein underneath the chin, which resulted in ULTIMATE DOLLAR racing for about 700m with the hood hanging off the martingale, despite the attempts by Jockey May to detach the hood. Approaching the 700m the hood became detached. In view of this, the Board declared ULTIMATE DOLLLAR to be a non-runner. This matter will be investigated. The Board reviewed the start regarding BLACK CAT BACK in stall gate 6, which was slow to open, and after reviewing the patrol films and having regard to the result BLACK CAT BACK was declared to be a runner. Jockey van Niekerk reported that LINE BREAK did not stride out freely in running and did not persevere with his riding. MILTON and ICON KING raced wide without cover in the early stages of the race. HANABI pulled hard in the early stages and was difficult to restrain. BLACK CAT BACK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: LINE BREAK - returned not striding out and coughing.
