The noseband on the bridle of SUPER PERFORMER had to be adjusted prior to loading causing a delay. NO FLY ZONE, SOUTHERN SUN and SUNSET CLAUSE were restless in the stalls. THE SILVA FOX jumped awkwardly losing one length and was squeezed shortly after the start. RADLET jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. CAPTAIN BUFFET, COMMISSIONER, DRAMATIST and TRUE WORDS raced green. Jockey Fayd'Herbe, the rider of COT CAMPBELL, which was continually baulked for a clear run throughout, appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding of the colt. He explained in his opinion the preferred going was towards the inside of the track and after being slightly slow away, he shifted inwards behind the field to find a clear run towards the inside of the track. Leaving the spur at the 400m he was unable to secure a clear run to the inside and was therefore forced to shift out to find a run. Unfortunately he was unable to find clear running and was continually baulked until the latter stages of the race. His explanation was noted. Jockey Cele was charged with a contravention in that he failed to keep his mount SUPER PERFORMER on a straight course parallel to the running rail and relative to the drawn position until a point not less than 200 metres from the start. Jockey Cele signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. WHITE RIVER and SOUTHERN SUN were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
